The Lab · by Not by Accident

Where brands, stores and creators meet.

A new market is won or lost on details: a landed price that eats the margin, a stockist who never reorders, a creator brief nobody signed. In The Lab, independent brands, stores and creators settle those details together, on written terms, in a network the studio reviews account by account.

An ecosystem

Everyone needs someone here.

A brand needs shelf space, voices and its first customers abroad. A store needs brands its customers haven’t already seen in three other shops. A creator needs products worth putting their name to. Everyone here is reviewed by the studio, and every deal is written down before anything ships or goes live.

Why

The first order is easy. The reorder is the test.

Research sits with one firm, the stockist list with another, the creators with an agency, and nobody owns the follow-through. The Lab keeps the diagnosis, the market data, the people and the agreements in one place, so you can see why a market works before you pay to find out.

Method

A score you can argue with.

Seven weighted areas, every weight published. Missing data never counts in your favour. A high match means the records line up on category, market and price tier; it does not mean a buyer is waiting.

The methodology

Built by a studio

Run by people who do this for clients.

Not by Accident is a brand and growth studio. The people who plan brand and growth work for our clients read every application, write the market reports, suggest the matches they would put their name to and step in when a collaboration stalls.

How the scoring works

FAQ

Questions people ask about The Lab.

What is The Lab by Not by Accident?

An online platform where independent brands, concept stores, influencers, UGC creators and early adopters find each other and work together. Brands test how ready they are for new markets, stores discover new brands, and creators and testers find collaborations. The studio reviews every account by hand.

How do I find stores to stock my brand?

Take the free readiness test, complete your brand profile and list it in discovery. With a membership you search concept stores and boutiques by category, country and price level, ask for wholesale terms and follow every conversation in one inbox.

How do I know if my brand is ready to sell in another country?

The readiness test scores 28 questions across seven areas, from product–market fit to operations and community, against a published method. Your preliminary report shows the result the moment you finish, with every answer’s score and the weights behind it. Market fit compares up to three markets on language, logistics, customs and partners; the studio’s market report then researches them for you within 24 hours.

Which markets does The Lab cover?

The Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Finland, Norway, Luxembourg, the United States and Türkiye. A market report on up to three of them is prepared by the studio within 24 hours.

How much does The Lab cost?

Brands take the readiness test and get the preliminary report for free. The studio’s market report is €49,90, the detailed report (fifteen pages and more) €299,99, and the membership €29,90 a month. Stores are free until their seventh deal, then €119,90 a year. Influencers pay €15,99 and UGC creators €7,99 a month. Early adopters never pay. Agencies ask for a quote.

How do brands find influencers and UGC creators?

Search creators by category, platform, audience and format, then invite them with a brief. Deliverables, dates, fee and usage rights are written down and confirmed by both sides inside The Lab before work starts.

How are collaborations protected?

Both sides confirm the same written terms; any change asks both again. Milestones are marked delivered by one side and confirmed by the other, every step is recorded, and either side can ask the studio to step in.

Why does the studio review every account?

So the brands, stores and creators you meet are real. A person at the studio reads every application before The Lab opens.

Who sees my data?

You, the people you deal with in The Lab, and our team. Early adopters stay private until they ask to try a product. Export or delete everything from Settings.

What is in a market entry report, and how fast do I get it?

Two reports, both researched and written by a person at the studio. The market report (€49,90) arrives within 24 hours and covers up to three markets: size and momentum, who buys, competitors and prices, channels, rules, duties and VAT, and the partners worth approaching. The detailed report (€299,99) arrives within 3 business days and runs to fifteen pages or more, with margins, a shortlist of partners, a financial scenario and a 90-day entry plan, every figure with its source. Both arrive in The Lab and as a PDF, and their next steps become your tasks.
